Created as a luminous unique floral arrangement, hand-picked flowers from the Cornish clifftops and meadows surrounding the Sunbeam Jackie studio are pressed between coloured glass and sit within an aged treated copper frame. Sun Flower Light is a glowing fusion of nature and technology – neon-natural – doubling as both a functional light and a standalone artwork.

The vision for Katy and Charlie was to create a piece that encapsulated the special atmosphere and spirit of their parasols brought inside as an illuminated art piece – decorative, atmospheric and experiential.

“Sun Flower Light is undoubtedly an object of intrigue and wonderment – a glowing orb on your wall, evoking planetary light, warmth in the space, a moon-rise, the setting sun – the atmosphere and quality of the light shifting as the day evolves. From a distance the detail of the pressed flowers draws you in until you are just inches away marvelling at the microscopic intricacy and silhouette of dandelion and cow-parsley seed-heads or the light through kaleidoscopic layers of violets, sea campion, forget-me-nots and hydrangea petals.”

Available in a range of colours, including Sun Yellow and Mars Pink, Sun Flower Light is fabricated from patinated copper, glass, perspex, pressed flowers, and LED lighting. It measures 40cm diameter with a depth of 5cm and is displayed like an interior glowing sun. The lights come with lighting flex and plug to go direct to a socket or for custom options the light can be made to be hardwired.

While every individual Sun Flower Light is a custom-made one-off, there is also the opportunity to have a bespoke option created through either the floral arrangements or the coloured glass – options that are endlessly adaptable to accommodate any horticultural desire and colour scheme. Selected flowers and foliage from special locations or events, such as beloved gardens or cherished wedding bouquets, can be incorporated to commemorate stories and events individual to the owner.

All processes are carried out in specialist facilities in Cornwall and the lights are assembled and finished in the Sunbeam Jackie studio in west Cornwall, UK.
